Drag and Drop Constraint Mode
A powerful new constraint application mode using visual feedback and real-time editing to apply constraints. Simply drag a part near another and the system previews applicable constraints on screen and allows easy changes and adjustments, like flip or rotate, before applying constraints.

External Thread Representation
Get industry standard 2D drawings of external threads without modelling the threads in 3D. Just specify thread data while modelling simplified 3D geometry and this information is used to create the 2D drawing, lowering your modelling overhead and generating better drawings.

Automatic Title Blocks, and More
2D Drawing Templates can be created which contain intelligent links that read data from part and assembly files. Title blocks and other drawing fields are automatically filled out, substantially reducing drawing time and errors. If the data in the source drawing or assembly file changes, these fields update automatically.

Unsectioning Parts in 2D
You can now select the parts in 2D Section Views that won't be sectioned, providing full user control over which parts are sectioned and which are not.

Enhanced View Rotation
New view rotation mode that automatically uses the mouse location as the centre of view rotation. If the mouse hovers over part geometry while view rotation is invoked, the mouse location becomes the centre of view rotation, saving time by eliminating the neede to zoom in or out to get the desired view orientation.

Dimension Alignment
2D dimensions now snap to each other to make precisely lining up dimensions fast and easy. Works with vertical, horizontal and centre alignments.

Better Part Dragging with Assembly Constraints
Dragging parts within assemblies while honouring constraints behaves more naturally. New constraint interpretation means it is no longer required to change between move and rotate tools to get the desired movement.

Customisable and Easier to Use
You can now customize the sizes and the colours of several items, including endpoint nodes and inferred sketch projection lines, making sketching easier and putting less strain on your eyes. Also, midpoint nodes are now inferred and appear automatically on line and arc segments by hovering the mouse.

Things that will no longer be available with V11.0

These items are being retired in Alibre Design 11.0. If you do not use any of the features listed below, you should be able to upgrade as soon as Alibre Design 11.0 is available. If you do use any of these features, please read carefully to understand your options.

Our Team Design technology has been retired and will not have a replacement. If this is functionality that you require, there are a number of web-based and other technologies available that could be used as a replacement for Team Design. We encourage you to research your options and choose the one that's best for you. Local and Server Repositories will also be retired and you will not be able to view Repository data of any kind in V11. Repositories are being replaced with the Alibre Vault, a greatly enhanced Product Data Management (PDM) tool. If you use Repositories of any kind, you will have to extract your Repository data using a data migration tool which will be provided. Integrated as a virtual drive within Windows, the Alibre Vault is as easy to use as browsing your Desktop. It is instantly familiar to anyone using Windows, and enables direct opening and saving from all Windows applications, supporting all file types, including Office, PDF and CAD files.

Control Your Environment
File check-out and check-in eleminate simultaneous changes. Automatic versioning tracks revisions, and keeps a change log with usernames and timestamps, easily rolling back to a previous version.

Save Time Every Day
Find files faster with instant searching of file contents and meta-data.  Organise file views any way you choose, for example by project, by client, or by department, and make any document available in multiple folders without creating copies.

Security
With flexible security settings, you can hide sensitive documents through user permissions. Alibre Vault is also compatible with Active Directory and can create scheduled backups of all data.

Collaboration
Powerful workflow tools create automatic e-mail notifications for things such as a document being modified or a process being completed. Advanced workflow modelling for business processes such as the engineering change order (ECO) process or user-defined approval loops make business happen faster, and follow a process you define.
